Man, I can't believe it. What a week! I've been home for a few days and haven't had a chance to really process how amazing my time was at the Library but I'm going to try.
The band finished tracking bed tracks on Wednesday. They were able to sink their teeth into the tunes and create some pretty amazing music based off of my scratch vocal and guitar/piano. I never know exactly what the tune will actually sound like when the band is added. I do have some idea of direction that I'd like to hear but I was very impressed how they were able to dial in and find the exact right vibe for every song.
On Thursday through Saturday morning, I was up to bat. I had to record all of the piano parts as well as sing vocals for ten songs! If it sounds like a lot, well, it was!!! Singing for hours and hours is truly exhausting because you really do use your whole body to try and generate the most genuine and heartfelt vocal performance that you can. Matt is very good at coaching a vocal performance from singers so luckily, we were able to do this quickly. I thought we did 'Long Ride' pretty fast, but it was nice to hear my growth as a singer because we were able to move through the songs pretty easily while capturing some amazing vocal moments within the tunes.
So, now I'm back and unfortunately, the waiting begins:( Matt has to return to another project and then he will begin mixing mine in September. So, enjoy your August and I will be back updating with previews of songs and a video in early September!
Thank you for joining me on this leg of the journey. I really, really can't wait to share the new music with you! Here are some pics:
